Adult Sunday School

There are two opportunites for adult Sunday School again this year.  The first class will feature a Bible Study starting off with an 8-10 week session of the 12 minor prophets in the Old Testament, a combination of scripture reading and open discussion and dialogue. The second class will include open discussion after a 30 minute DVD presentation on the New Testament.  Both groups with engage in interesting and challenging studies in a conversational and fun environment making Adult Sunday School a favorite gathering place for many at South Summit. The class meets every Sunday at 9:00am.

Lunch Bunches

Immediately following worship on occasional Sundays people meet for lunch at various restaurants around town. Listen for details each week and join the table fellowship!  Organized by Tricia Hitchcock.

Monday Morning Café

Every Monday morning from 8:00-9:00 A.M. everyone is invited to meet for Bible Study and coffee. What a good way to start the week!  Convened by Michael Nutter. 


Women's Book Club

The new women's book club will meet at the home of Ann Fischer on Monday, March 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  Please read The Help by Kathryn Stockett and come prepared to have great conversation and refreshments!  All are welcome!  Organized by Trisha Barker.

Iron Men

A men's group has had a couple of fun gatherings this summer and fall.  The next event will be a Texas Hold'em Night on Friday, February 26 at the home of Gary Brook!  All men are welcome!  Organized by Keith Hageman.

On-The-Go

This “empty-nester” social group for singles and couples alike meets at various locations around town on a monthly basis for friendly fellowship.  Meeting times are determined by the group. Convened by Donna Smith.

Faith In Families Small Group

This group meets monthly (usually the 4th Friday of the month) and participates in a themed pot luck dinner and Bible study beginning around 6:30 pm.  A children's lesson is discussed prior to a more adult version of the same topic.  During the adult Bible study, the children participate in free play with minimal supervision. This group attempts to follow the sermon schedule when possible. The Faith In Families group will meet in 2010 on Fridays, January 29, February 26,March 26, April 23 and May 21.  All are Welcome! Convened by Ed and Kristy Bishop.

LifeLiners (Grief and Loss Support Group)

All have experienced grief and loss, some more recently than others. This group will meet "every other" Thursday evening at 6:00 pm at the church, to share experiences and develop ties to help ease the feelings of loneliness and to take the word “one” out of alone. The group helps participants search for hope and personal strength in spite of the pain caused by the loss of a loved one, the loss of a marriage or other significant relationship, or the loss of health and/or employment.  Convened by Paula Diehl.

Dinners for 8

This new group will meet quarterly, with the second gathering on Saturday, April  10!  The goal is to share in "community" with one another and get to know others in our church family on a more personal level.  A sign up sheet and more information will be available soon for the next gathering!  Organized by MariBeth Hageman.
